Topics:

Unit 1: What is Religion?

Unit 2: Judaism

Unit 3: Christianity

Unit 4: Islam

Unit 5: Hinduism

Unit 6: Buddhism

Unit 7: Daosim

Unit 8: Other

Current Events: It is crucial that you pay attention to news and stories that take place around the world. We will begin each class period by taking time to discuss news over the past 24 hours. Please refer to CNN Headline News, newspapers, and local TV to find things.

Hall Pass: The restrooms nearest my classroom are out the door and to the right. Cross the mid-point and restrooms are just inside the East Wing

Homework: May be assigned at any time. Homework needs to be turned in one time. Late assignments will receive ½ credit.

Classwork: Typically, assignments we do in class can be completed within the class period. I will announce exactly when each assignment is due several times during the class period. Sometimes we need an extra day and I will let you know that on a case-by-case basis. It is expected that all assignments are turned in on time. Late assignments will receive ½ credit.

Late Work: You will have a window of 2 weeks to turn in any late work. You will still receive only ½ credit, but the way I see it, half is better than none. Work not turned in at all or beyond the 2-week period will be given a zero.

·         Does not apply to lengthy absences such as illness.

Food/Beverages: Pop/Water, etc is fine just don't spill it. Food should be of the snack variety.

Cell Phones/PEDs: I will follow the school policy. There is a time and place for the use of personal electronic devices . You will be made aware of when you may use them and when you may not. Failure to comply will result in verbal warnings and referrals to the office.

Notebooks: You are not required to keep a notebook. It is however, strongly urged that you do keep a well-organized notebook. Generally, I allow notes to be used on large tests and quizzes, but not all. Students who take quality notes have always done better than those who have not. It isn’t a complicated scenario.

Tests/Quizzes: You will be given at least 2 days notice before a test or quiz. I expect that the room stay quiet until all are done taking their quiz or test. If you cannot follow procedure, you risk earning a zero. There are current event quizzes held each Friday unless otherwise noted. I try to always give quizzes and tests during the middle of the week, but sometimes Monday or Friday just has to do.

Tardy Policy: I follow the school policy. Please make sure you are here on time. You will be marked tardy.

Project: Be advised that you will be responsible for one project during the course of the semester. Failure to complete it could result in a loss of credit.

Absences: It is your responsibility to see me and take care of any missed assignments. If you know you are going to be absent, you can always check with me ahead of time.

Class Dismissal: Please be in or next to your seat when the bell rings. The room is small and does not need a crowd of people around the door. When the bell rings you may leave unless we are not ALL in our seats. (7th Hour please put chairs on desks)

Disaster/Fire Drill: To be announced
